Richard Hurst, Beloved ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ Star, Dies at 79
Rick Hurst, an actor who featured as Deputy Cletus Hogg in a famous TV production the dukes of Hazzard, has died. By the time he died he had turned 79. His first wife, Candace Kaniecki, said that he passed away in Los Angeles on Thursday. She told me that his death was sudden and we do not know what caused the death yet.
Such news has been funnily surprising to a number of fans, majorly the people who grew up watching Rick on TV. His funny and kind-hearted acting made people a lot glad.
He was To Meet Fans
On July 3 Rick was scheduled to appear at an event at Cooter Place, a Dukes of Hazzard museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Nonetheless, on the morning of his death the museum wrote a Facebook post that Rick could not attend the museum because of some unexpected circumstances. Later on, the fans discovered that he was dead.
A TV-and Movie Career
Rick had begun acting life in the late sixties. He was in numerous popular television programs throughout his years. The most popular ones are:

- Gunsmoke
- The Bob Newhart Show
Rick was a superb comedian. His characters tended to be humorous, goofy and quite amiable.
However, his most memorable character was Deputy Cletus Hogg in The Dukes of Hazzard. Cletus was a cousin to the town mayor of sneakiness, Boss Hogg. Rick acted as Cletus who was a sociable but graceless deputy, and usually found something flawed. This endeared people to him and he was one of the popular characters in the show. He came to the show in late 1970s and went through until the 1980s.

Rick did not just work in the TV, he also appeared in films. He appeared in family movies such as The Cat in Outer Space (1978), and comedies such as History of the World: Part I (1981). Through these films, it was demonstrated that Rick was able to make people laugh anywhere.

His son, Ryan Hurst, also became an actor, being a son of Rick Hurst. Ryan played Opie in Sons of Anarchy, and Gerry in Remember the Titans. Ryan in the past has stated that his father taught him much about acting and life. The father and the son were close to each other, and Rick was very happy about the success of his son.

During the moment when they showed the death of Rick, some people still recalled him via words of some of them on the internet. According to his Co-stars, friends and fans, he was a kind and sweet man.
